HOW POOR ORAL HEALTH CAN CAUSE ACNE AND PIMPLE
It is no news that health is indeed wealth and when you feel better you look better. Being unhealthy is not just your regular Malaria, typhoid, headache tummy troubles with various other life threatening diseases. when you leave your teeth and mouth unattended to or not conscious about its health, can lead to so much discomfort and overall, give an unkempt look.
It is paramount to visit the dentist at least once a
year for a check-up, because youdo not want your teeth problems to develop into
a life threatening situation. Treatments like scaling and polishing are usually
advised by the dentist, this treatment
involves using a metallic instrument with water like substance used to clean in-between
the teeth , and gums. the machine removes stains from teeth, it smoothes away
minor imperfections and patches of rough texture of the teeth, reduces plague
buildup, brightens the teeth and prevents gum disease along the line. If you
want to go the extra mile because you
have really bad discoloured teeth, the dentist might advise you get a teeth
whitening treatment.
MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE ABOUT THEIR ORAL HYGIENE
1
NOT CHANGING YOUR TOOTHBRUSH OFTEN- it is very important that you change your toothbrush at least
twice a month, because every time you brush your teeth there is bacteria
accumulation no matter how much you rinse your toothbrush. You cannot be reinfecting yourself everyday.
If you can change your toothbrush every month, the better. just to make sure
you are bacteria free in the mouth area.
2
EXPOSING YOUR TOOTHBRUSH- most people might agree
with this one but I must tell you that you are not 100% sure of your
environment, crawling insects and roaches so I will advise you jump on the
Toothbrush holder bandwagon, where your toothbrush can be protected and air out
nicely.
3
NOT USING A MOUTHWASH- Dirt and bacteria in the mouth cannot be
completely cleaned, so it is the work of the mouthwash to make sure your mouth
and teeth are double clean. On those days you have to go on a quick errand and
not have the patients to brush properly, the mouthwash is your best friend.
4
NOT FLOSSING YOUR TEETH- Many people are guilty
of this, they either opt for a toothpick after eating or brush their teeth and
head out the door. Flossing not only removes left over food but cleans some
hidden dirt that your toothbrush can’t reach, reduces plague build up, reduces
some symptoms of headache caused by bad oral hygiene and improves mental
alertness from a personal experience. It’s affordable and important. You can
carry it anyway and anywhere, just incase you need a quick clean. So
floss floss floss today!!!
5
NOT BRUSHING AT NIGHT- Everyone one is guilty
of this, after a tired day at work, the last thing you want to do is brush your
teeth after rushing to eat your
meal. Two minutes of a quick brush can
lead to a good and happy oral hygiene without plague buildup, swollen gums and gum disease,
so you feel so fresh in the morning
6
TAKING TOO MUCH SUGAR- Too much sugar is never good news, as it
affects the gums, and gives sores to the entire mouth which can be
uncomfortable. Too much sugar is not also good for the skin as it can increase
acne on the skin or bring about acne if you never had it.
Tooth decay and infection causes the number of bad bacteria
in the mouth to increase. The quantity of bacteria present in the mouth in turn
can lead to inflammation of the skin, causing acne and pimples around the lips,
chin and lower cheeks as a result of cavities or overall poor dental hygiene.
But did you know that poor dental hygiene can cause
stress which in turn have a negative
effect on the skin? yes you heard me right? Anxiety from bad breath can lead to inflammation of the skin, anxious behaviour
like biting the lips or chewing the insides of the cheeks. Both of these
behaviours can result in the transference of bad acne causing bacteria from the mouth to the
skin.
Bacteria sometimes get transferred from mouth to skin,
so it is advisable to brush your teeth before you wash your face. Also make
sure while and after brushing you wipe any residue toothpaste that might be left
on the skin.you may react to the residue toothpaste if not wiped from face
properly.
The mouth and the skin share many things in common and one of them is bad bacteria that cause
infections. If you have poor oral health, bacteria can gather around your gum
line. The early stage of this is called Gingivitis, which can be reversed with
cleanings of the teeth, proper care of
the teeth and regular dental check-up.
However, if you continue to practice poor oral hygiene, the bacteria affect more of your gumline
causing infection or an abscess, a fluid filled sack on the gum. This infection
can make its way to the bloodstream and infect other parts of your body. Bear
in mind that if you notice acne developing while you have gum disease, you may
have gum disease or an infection that
has spread into your skin.if that sounded scary do not fret, we are here to
help and now that you are in the know, its not late.
It wouldn’t make any sense if you spend a truck load
of money on your skin and leave your mouth and teeth unkempt. You don’t want to be seen walking around with
bad discoloured, and a broken tooth,
full of plagues with swollen gums and big holes. Oral hygiene is paramount for overall
wellbeing. Your teeth hurts, you can’t eat well, exercise well, think properly
nor communicate properly. The onus is
on you to take responsibility of your body and hygiene because it can
definitely affect your skin and overall outlook.
